How Influencer Marketing Agencies Find Millions of Micro-Influencers

By November 15, 2020 No Comments

Any business that’s looking for an ironclad way to get the attention of their ideal audience should look no further than someone who already has their ear. The remarkable rise of influencer marketing proved this to be true. Only in 2019, we’ve seen over 400 new influencer marketing agencies established nationwide.

But instead of focusing on influencer marketing trends, we want to answer the question:

How do influencer marketing agencies and platforms find and connect with millions of micro and nano influencers worldwide, so fast?

Targeted Influencer Email Lists

Generally, nano influencer stands for profiles with a following of 1k-10k, while micro-influencers range from 10k-100k. Meaning there are millions of Instagram profiles that fall in these two buckets. This is great because for every possible niche audience there are many influencers desperate for “brand collabs”.

We have the largest Instagram consumer database on the market. As such, our job is to find very specific influencers from any niche and give businesses a way to reach all of them at once.

How? By providing relevant and targeted influencer email lists. Think of us as a BIG Instagram filter that finds influencers based only on specific parameters you need and lets you connect with them via email.

How We Make Sure Every Email Contact Is Right for You

Short form: we have the toolset to analyze and understand every Instagram user with a business profile based on their passive & active online footprint.

Long form: We’re scraping Instagram for 3+ years at a rate of 100k users per day. Since our main product is targeted influencer email address lists, we want to find users with publicly available email addresses. 30% of all Instagram users have a so-called business profile even though only a tiny percentage of them are actually businesses. People choose business accounts because it gives access to follower statistics they don’t get with regular ones.

Then we connect external APIs like Clearbit and FullContact to enrich the data with other information about every contact, that wasn’t available on their Insta profile.

Furthermore, we analyze the Instagram followers of every nano and micro-influencer with HypeAuditor to profile their audience and make sure they are real people, not fake accounts.

And last but not least, we validate every email in our database through NeverBounce to remove any bots, fake accounts, catchall, or spam trap emails. This is a crucial step for sending bulk emails because if Google notices that you’ve reached out to many invalid emails you’ll instantly find your domain in spam.

What Kind of Targeting Do Influencer Marketing Agencies Usually Want?

It certainly depends on the kind of clients the agency has and the influencer strategy they chose to implement. Here’s an example of the kind of orders we usually get:

How to Ask Influencers for a Collaboration via Email

Depending on your business model there are 3 ways to get influencers to spread the word about your products/services:

1. Give them an offer

If you’ve previously worked with influencers, you can calculate the average ROI per influencer –  compared to their number of followers. Then decide on the income percentage you’re willing to invest and that makes sense for your business.

According to WebFX here are some general prices for Instagram posts in 2020:

  • An influencer with 1,000 followers could charge $100 per post.
  • An influencer with 10,000 followers could charge $250 per post.
  • An influencer with 100,000 followers could charge $2500 per post.
  • An influencer with 1,000,000 followers could charge $25,000 per post.

2. Affiliate programs

More businesses turn to affiliate programs because influencers get a chance to earn more if they do a great job in promoting the brand.

They get affiliate codes with discounts for their followers and when some of them make a purchase they receive 5 to 15% from the sale.

3. Free products

A great option for startups that don’t have the resources to pay influencers is to offer free products in exchange for posts/stories.

Here’s an email example of a brand asking for influencer collaboration based on free products:

The Biggest Value of Influencer Email Lists? Reusability

Influencer marketing agencies usually buy email lists with their client’s budget. However, there’s nothing stopping them from keeping the list for themselves and reusing it for other clients as well. Over time agencies build up their own database and become independent of our data because they can serve any client right from their own system.

And we’ve seen this with many clients so far. Starting out as regular influencer marketing agencies that transformed themselves into influencer platforms where anyone can access/rent their database.

Average 5% Email-to-Client Conversion Rate

So far we worked with more than 50 influencer marketing agencies and there’s an average conversion rate from email to client of 5%. This percentage varies based on many things such as approach and offer, brand reputation, types of influencers targeted, etc.
